2010 Presentation Day / Sippers - Sunday September 5 at Canterbury Sports Ground 2:30 pm to 8pm
This is perhaps the biggest day of the year at the COBRAS home ground and its for all 14 of our teams and players so do not miss it. Presentation of player cups, player awards, team photographs, game certificates and much more. there will be a jumping castle, a BBQ with Mr BBQ starring again, the Profs Lolly shop will be open, the spit roast with two massive legs of beef slow roasting will be going all day. You can go and have a chat with Rick Williams one of the club stalwarts who will be operating the spit. Later in the night you can marvel at the carving skill of Mark and Mick from one of our major sponsors, Cornehls and Blackburn, in Hamilton Street Mont Albert. They provide the club with the magnificant sausages and hamburgers that we BBQ at sippers. Of course the experience of eating the sausages and hamburgers is made even more pleasurable by the bread that Bread Street of Hamilton Street Mont Albert supplies to us as part of their major sponsorship. During sippers the winner of the CJFC Player of the Year and Encouragement Award will be announced and presentations made.

U14 Grand Final Report - 29th August Canterbury Black v Ivanhoe
The U14 Black team had a great win in a hard fought contest on Sunday to win the Brown Division Grand Final. It was a high scoring game with both sides showing a capacity to put on goals quickly and from a long way out. The game got particulalry close in the second quarter when Ivanhoe played with strong pressure and put themselves in front making the ball their objective. Ivanhoe outscored Canterbury in the second quarter and casued a lot of anxious moments for the coaching staff and the parents.
The canterbury boys hit back early and hard in the third quarter to take a solid, but not commanding lead which they held on to for the rest of the match. Ivanhoe never gave up and continued to score goals right to the end of the match. Any relaxation by the Canterbury boys would have resulted in quick goals to Ivanhoe and danger of a loss. To their credit the boys kept the pressure on right to the end of the match.
Everyone made an important contribution at different stages of the game and the final scoreline was Canterbury 21.10 136 to 15.6 96.
Thanks are extended to the Coach Murray Carter and the many people who assisted him and the boys with this wondeful achievement.
Preliminary Finals Report - 22 August 2010
Three Canterbury Junior Football clubs played in Preliminary Finals. All teams tried hard and played well at times but we just could not crack a victory.
The U13 Black team faced a very powerful Glen iris team who had a couple of good tall players who we could not match up on. The boys never gave up and the last quarter was particularly encouraging with the boys kicking 3 goals 1 point to 1 goal 1 point by Glen Iris. Keep the last quarter effort as your memory of this match boys and go on with it next year.
The U12 Red boys gave it their best shot but were beaten by a stronger team in a low scoring game. A good you with something to build on in 2011.
The U11 Black team lost by only 10 points in another low scoring game where Hawthorn Citizens had a lot of shots at goal. Again well done and carry it forward for another good year in 2011.
We look forward to next week when the U14 Black team will meet Ivanhoe in the Brown Division Grand Final. The game is at 2:30 pm at Greython Park corner of Alpha and Roberts Streets Greython, Melway 46 G4. As many COBRAS as possible should come along to watch the match and support our club. We hope to see you there.
