2017 Presentation Day
Thanks to everyone who attended our 2017 Presentation Day. Despite the weather, it was a wonderful celebration for our club and a chance to recongise not only our players, but members of the Cobras family who have provided significant contributions to our club. You can see all the award winners here.

Cobras continue to shine at the highest level
The Yarra Junior Football League’s 2 Under 15 boys teams were crowned Champions after securing wins in both the Under 15 (1) and Under 15 (2) Grand Finals of the AFL Victoria Metropolitan Junior Championships. Selected in these teams were three of last year’s U14 Cobras team – James Townsend, Reef McInnes and Sam Tucker.
Current U13 Cobras player Conor Lynch was selected in the U13 YJFL Representative Team which played in the Interleague carnival back on the June long weekend. The YJFL came out on top in two of the matches by a solitary behind whilst the third match went down by, unbelievably, a solitary behind. The YJFL secured the Division 1 shield.
David Cunningham - Our Rising Star
To celebrate his nomination in round 12 for the NAB AFL Rising Star Award, we welcomed Carlton’s David Cunningham down to Cobras training on Wednesday night. David played all his junior football at the Canterbury Cobras to Under 14 when he played on with our affiliate club, Boroondara Hawks until Under 17.
When announced as the Round 12 Rising Star, David nominated Canterbury JFC as his Junior Club. As a result, he presented our Club with an award from sponsor NAB: a cheque for $1000, and a selection of fantastic equipment which will be put to great use!
David met up with our Under 11 and 12 teams along with Cobras Club President John Rutledge and members of our Club’s Committee.
David Cunningham and Rob (from NAB) with our Cobras rising stars of the future!
Here at the Cobras we are very proud of David’s achievements and thankful for his support. We will certainly keep a keen eye on his progress with the navy blues as he continues to impress in his AFL career.
