Casino Royale at the Cobras - what a fantastic night!
Thanks to everyone who attended our annual social night last Saturday night. Great to see so many people getting into the spirit. There was plenty of competition and fun as people fought for a spot in the Blackjack Final. A massive thank you to the Committee and volunteers who organised the evening, helped decorate and set up the hall and most importantlly the tidy up before 9 am Sunday.
Scoreboard update - our vision completed
Tuesday April 30 was a significant day in the history of our club. Our long awaited digital scoreboard was installed at Canterbury Sports Ground. Lead by the Canterbury Junior Football Club in partnership with the Senior Football Club and the Canterbury Cricket Club, it's been a very long journey. We've got so many people to thank who kept this dream alive for so long. To our Committee who led this project, we say a massive thank you. We can't wait to launch it soon and acknowledge those who have made this vision a reality!
2018 Specialist Training Schedules
In 2018 the Football Department at Canterbury Cobras are once again providing the opportunity for players to further develop the skills required to play our great game. We have obtained the services of players from the Box Hill Hawks to focus on specific skills at each session. As a direct response to parents feedback, in most cases the sessions will now occur inconjunction with regular squad training, providing a more personalised focus.
Each session will focus on a different aspect of game skills, from Kicking and Marking to Running Patterns.
Details of the focus of each sessions can be found in The Football Department section of this website.
2018 Season off to a damp start
Thanks to everyone who came along to of Friday night family night - great to see so many people enjoying a warm evening with friends. The weather was certainly different by the time Round 1 came around. Our new Under 8s kicked off their Cobras careers in rain and drizzle - but it didn't dappen their enthusiasm! Rumour has it some our new Under 8s were up and showered by 5 am to be ready for their 8.45 game!
Our first Girls Team also relished the damp conditions as they made history at the Cobras, the Under 14s relished the wet and showed some real Cobras spirit. The Under 12 Girls will be looking forward to kicking off next week after a late fixture change.

Richmond FC visits the Cobras
Thanks to all the boys and girls who atteneded Tuesday's training session with Shane Edwards and Jacob Townsend from the Richmond Football Club. Shane and Jacob who were part of Richmond's drought breaking 48 point premiership victory over Adelaide in 2017 passed on some fantastic tips and secrets to the Cobras. A big thank you to Richmond Football Club.
Thanks also to our coaches, led by David Kenny who helped out and made it a fantastic evening.
The committee led by Tim Phillips served up 200 sausages to the hungry players. Thanks to our sponsors Cornehls and Blackburn Butchers and Breadstreet from Mont Albert Village for providing the snags and bread. We couldn't run such a great night for the club without the ongoing support of our fantastic sponsors. Please support them next time you host a bbq!
Shane Edwards and Jacob Townsend speak to our U8s, 9s and 10s about the art of kicking for goal.
